Vår familie på Grinna
Vår families historie på Grinna i Hedrum begynner da John Kristoffersen Nes 3. mars 1869 inngår en kontrakt med Michael Treschow om forpaktning av bruket Grinna under gården Nordby i Hedrum. I åremålskontrakten mellom Michael Treschow og John Kristoffersen heter det:
"Michael Treschow gjør vitterligt: At jeg, som eier til det forrige Laurvig grevskabs behørende eiendommer, har bortforpagtet Grinna u/Nordby i Hedrum thinglaug, som forhen har vært brugt av Søren andersen til John Christophersen paa aaremaal fra 14. april d.a."
Åremålskontrakten inneholder en rekke punkter om hvordan bruket skal holdes i god stand og et forbud mot å selge tømmer til brensel. Da John i 1869 flytter til Grinna kom han fra bruket Holoa under Nes i Kvelde. Han var gift med Maren Andrea Andersdatter fra Vestby i Kvelde. De giftet seg i januar 1864 og hadde allerede sønnen Anders Kristian (f. 1864). Anders Kristian emigrerte i 1893 til USA. Han bosatte seg i Alpena. Michigan.
Samme år som John og Maren Andrea flyttet til Grinna ble sønnen Hans Martin født. Det ble senere han som overtok som bruker på Grinna. I 1873 ble yngste sønn Johan Anton født. Også han emigrerte som voksen til USA. Også han bosatte seg i Alpena, Michigan.

Hans Martin ble på Grinna
Hans Martin var nest eldste sønn av Maren Andrea og John Grinna. Han overtok gårdsbruket Grinna etter foreldrene i 1895. I tillegg til å være gårdbruker var han fløtningsformann for Nedre Lågens fellesfløtingsforening. Les mer
